PFA Training Courses

Below is a brief summary of each of the courses we are currently offering.  The ‘More Information’ link at the end of each summary will provide you with additional detail for each course.

Training courses are usually delivered in-house, face to face and, in the present Covid-19 situation, courses are also offered ‘On-Line’ in a trainer led, interactive video format, which has proved to be very successful and has received excellent feedback.  The on-line version has the addtional advantage that delegates do not have to travel to a training venue.

Patient Safety Incident Debriefing and Staff Support

The NHS is introducing a new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), which, following trials in several ‘Early Adopter’ Hospital Trusts through out the country, is now being implemented across the NHS.  It is anticipated that the implementation should be completed by September 2023. This training course is designed to assist Trusts and Commisioners throughout the NHS in implementing a debriefing process following Patient Safety Incidents, which incorporates staff support using Psychological First Aid (PFA).

The course presents a summary of the new PSIRF and, in particular, the After Action Review process of debriefing Patient Safety Incidents, within which staff support is provided using the skills of PFA.

We have recently completed a contract of 35 courses for East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, which was one of the Early Adopter Trusts, and are anticipating further work on this specialised topic.
