Managing the Personal Impact of Dealing with Fatalities

Most of us are not accustomed to being confronted with a dead body, but in some people’s working lives this may happen from time to time.  This is usually unexpected and very distressing, causing a variety of trauma reactions, which often interfere with people’s lives.

This may happen in some Local Authority departments, such as Housing, Lighting, Cleaning, Environmental Health, Engineering and others.

It is helpful to prepare such staff members in advance of such experiences so that the negative impact on them is reduced.

Managing The Personal Impact Of Dealing With Fatalities

We have extensive experience offering training for a variety of organisations ranging from the NHS, other emergency services as well as businesses.

We offer training courses to enable people to help others cope in dealing with traumatic incidents and stressful situations. Training courses are usually delivered in-house, but in the present Covid-19 crisis situation courses are now being offered online, which has proved to be very successful.

Training Course Details

This one day course is designed for people who are sometimes confronted with a dead body during their work. These people will include Local Authority employees such as Environmental Health Officers, Housing Officers, Street Cleaning Staff, Emergency Lighting Staff, Engineering Staff and others.

The training is very practical and will help prepare people for the impact of being confronted with dead bodies, deal with their own reactions to such events and ensure that they are not adversely affected. Delegates will also be able to respond with appropriate sensitivity to the needs of distressed people they may come into contact with.  There will be the opportunity to view images of dead bodies, but it is stressed that delegates will be warned before this happens and no-one will be made to view anything without their consent.
